CHAMPIONS OF SONA KICKSTARTER FAQ
How do i select miniature/size of t-shirt?
When the campaign is over you will get an email sent out from our pledge manager where you can fill out where you live to calculate your shipping costs, but also select which miniature you want and which size t-shirt you need.
Why does the miniature cost what they do?
To arrive at our prices on the miniatures there’s been quite a few factors that play part of the end result. The first and a quite big one is the cost of development. Everyone who’s part of the campaign either get paid per work done or per hour as an employee of the Squidmar channel - and we’ve made sure that every concept artist, sculptor, illustrator and project manager has been paid for their work. The second one being the cost of production. Each miniature requires a certain amount of silicon and resin to be made and each cast requires hand work by a caster. Each silicon mould we make can only be used about 20 times to still keep the top quality we want to have for this campaign and then we have to make a new mould. The last step is packaging and shipping, both to us from the caster but also the price of our staff for shipping out the miniature to you. Every little bit like this is what adds up to the total price.
The owl looks Fragile?
In some ways - yes it is. But inside the most fragile part we’ve cast in a metal rod to strengthen the miniature, and from the minis we have we’ve not managed to break a single owl from handling it in the office. However - We do recommend you pinning the wings as they are quite heavy and super glue has a tendency to get weaker over time.
Will there be painting guides?
Yes there will be 2 painting guides on the Squidmar channels. Lukas has recorded a tutorial for Prince Tharkos and we will record a masterclass step by step with Emil featuring Atle. But there are also plenty of other youtube channels making videos of various levels and contents. The following videos are already known to us: Jose DaVinci will paint Kiranti, Sam Lenz will paint Isard Quen, Andy Wardle from Cult of Paint will paint Brok Moonturned, David Arroba will paint Signhild on his channel. We also have Aythami Alonso that recorded a video of Zion & Dea that you will be able to purchase on his patreon.
How do I build these miniatures?
Resin miniatures are quite easy to build. You will have to use Superglue as opposed to plastic glue/cement. But the cut of our minis are really well done so there should not be any major problems putting them together. The only exception being Brok Moonturned who is really quite massive - we do recommend you using pins to strengthen the bond with the wings as they are quite heavy. To fill the gaps on resin; our personal favorite material is Milliput - but green stuff and plastic putty also works really well in most cases.
Will these be available after the kickstarter:
Yes, we will open up late pledges for those who miss the kickstarter campaign - you will receive your package after the kickstarter pledges are delivered. When late pledges and KS-pledges are all shipped out we’ll make them available on our webstore and have them in stock.
Will there 3D printable STL files for sale?
No, at this time we have no plan of releasing 3D printable files - for a couple of reasons. The first one being that we have a goal of making the best product we could possibly make and there’s no way for us to control the quality of the finished product if it’s being printed on a hundred different 3D printers. But also because we love physical miniatures. There’s something different having a miniature cast by some of the worlds finest resin casters in your hand and to paint on that 3D printers quite can't match yet. Does this mean we’ll never make 3D printable figures? We don’t know for certain, but as of now we have no plan to start selling 3D printable files.
When will you start shipping:
We’ve got a plan in place to be able to deliver as many pledges as possible as quickly as possible. But due to the nature of a kickstarter - we don’t know exactly how many of each miniature we have to make until after the campaign is over. And if there’s thousands of you ordering the massive Brok Moonturned - things might take a little longer than we expect. With that said though, we have estimated we’ll start shipping miniatures 1st march 2023 and get about 1000 packages out per month.
Do you ship to XYZ?
We ship almost everywhere in the world. There’s a few exceptions, most notably Ukraine because of the war and Russia as DHL does not ship to private persons in russia.
Will i get my package faster if i back day 1?
No, we will ship miniatures as they are available and we get them from the casters. That means that somebody who orders a single figure on the last day of the campaign - that we’re fully ready with day 1 of shipping - might receive their pledge a little earlier than somebody who orders the all in package in the first week of the campaign.
What do i do if my miniature/brush is broken?
If there are missing bits, broken parts and similar: please remember that each and every one of these figures & brushes were hand made and packed by a human being. We will do our best to check the quality of each part in two steps. But we're all human and there might be hundreds of thousands of miniature bits we have to check for errors. So there's a real possibility we've missed a bit or two or the quality of said parts out of hundreds of thousands of bits.
If you find that you have received a faulty or damaged product:
Our first course of action will be to ship out a replacement for the missing or broken part(s). If there are other issues where a replacement is not suitable, a refund can be discussed but these will be handled on a case by case basis.
Should you encounter a broken part or find a piece missing, please reach out within 3 months of receiving your pledge. After this 3 month period we will still be able to replace missing or broken parts but a surcharge for shipping will be incurred. If you’ve accidentally broken a part and need a replacement, we can arrange that at a much discounted price to make sure you’ll be able to finish your miniature without breaking the bank.
Will i have to pay import taxes?
Each country has different rules and regulations on import fees and tariffs. We recommend researching your country's specific rules for importing packages from Sweden. Note: UK, Canada and South American countries always charge import fees.
How are the funds going to be used?
The majority of the funds of this campaign is used to cover production costs and shipping costs. But also salaries of the staff who will make all the upcoming video tutorials, shipping out the miniatures and to cover the costs we’ve already invested. If there’s any funds left after these costs we have a massive list of things we want to develop with Sona. As already mentioned on the kickstarter page: a full length novel from Richard a. Knaak, making an audio book of said book and who knows - maybe even find ways to make a board game with 32mm plastic miniatures.
Is there any other option to back the kickstarter than by credit card?
To pledge to a project you can use a debit or credit card associated with Visa, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay, or American Express. Discover, UnionPay, and JCB cards are currently only accepted for US-based projects.
We do not currently accept Maestro or Visa Electron cards. If you will be using a prepaid credit card, please make sure that the card has a value of at least $1 more than your pledge total. We’re looking in to options for the late pledge.
